The Illusion of Normalisation

Recent foreign visits by pseudo-president Min Aung Hlaing and shifting international engagement have sparked fears that Myanmar’s junta is breaking its isolation. However, diplomatic optics cannot mask structural collapse. Facing catastrophic battlefield losses, economic ruin, and unwavering domestic resistance, the regime’s staged civilian transition and foreign handshakes represent desperate containment, not genuine political legitimacy.
